NOTE ON TRANSCRIPTIONS AND CAPITALIZATION
I have attempted to transcribe Cornell’s letters, diary entries, and other writing as accurately as possible, retaining his capitalization, underlining, and misspellings. When he has clearly struck out words or passages and substituted others, I include the stricken words if they are significant to the ideas under discussion. When they are unnecessarily confusing or impossible to replicate in text form, I have chosen the substituted words. When transcribing passes from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, I have retained the capitalization of words such as “Mind” and “Truth.” In my own text, when referring to these Christian Science synonyms for God, I follow this capitalization convention.
