GENERAL EXHIBITION AND MUSEUM CATALOGUES COVERING MORE THAN ONE PERIOD
Note: In many cases essentially the same exhibition travels from one venue to another. Generally the first venue is cited. When an exhibition consists of objects from one museum shown in another, the entry is usually made under the first city where the exhibition is held. For example an exhibition of works from the Louvre in Cleveland is cited under Cleveland, and an exhibition of works from the British Museum in Atlanta is cited under Atlanta. The entries include temporary exhibitions as well as catalogues of permanent collections. If there is an English edition of the catalogue, it is usually the only one cited. When an exhibition catalogue concerns a specific period, dynasty, or reign, it is generally included in the bibliographical material below for the period involved and not under the city. I apologize for omissions. This is not an attempt to record every exhibition, but it is hoped that the catalogues of permanent collections will be especially helpful. As indicated above, the CAA (Corpus Antiquitatum Aegyptiacarum) fascicles have not been included, although they are important for the museums represented: namely Amsterdam: Allard Pierson Museum; Boston: Museum of Fine Arts; Bremen: Übersee-Museum; Cuba: Musée National Havanne, Musée Bacardi Santiago de Cuba; Hanover: Kestner-Museum; Hildesheim: Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum; Oslo: Ethnografik Museum; Museen der Rhein-Main-Region; Wien: Kunsthistorisches Museum; museums in the former Czechoslovakia.

Among the most significant blocks is a representation of men dragging a pyramidion as well as a block of bedouin in a ‘famine’ scene, the latter indicating a prototype for the famous scenes at the causeway of Unas at the end of the dynasty, which have now lost their claim to priority and originality. A possible explanation of the scene may be a visit by Egyptians to the deserts to search for stone for a pyramidion and the discovery of emaciated bedouin during their mission.
